CORPSING

A retro style puzzle platformer where every failure is just a stepping stone to success.

Director - Games Designer - Lead Artist

ROLE

What began life as a simple game jam idea, quickly developed into a full-fledged title over a year or so of late nights and weekends.

I was the Director and games designer on Corpsing, as well as lead artist, including characters, level and prop design. I also took the role of graphic designer and purposefully themed the game around a bleak 1960’s style British factory workhouse.

Corpsing is first a foremost a platformer, but with the twist that your corpse is what forms the basis for your platforming. I wanted the game to across as tongue-in-cheek, so the theming of the game presents the loop very casually and playfully.

I was responsible for the visual design of the game, from the look of characters and props down to level design and cutscenes. The visual language of the game took inspiration from 1960’s iconography, design trends from 70’s Britain and the satirical writing of that time. The modelling is a low-mid poly style with a custom unity flat/highlight shader.

The team worked together to design levels of varying difficulties, using mechanics and objects to change the difficulty and skill to create an organic ramping of difficulty.

The game is set to be released early 2027 on PC.
